I got my first Smooth, Daisey, in 1998 when I saw a litter advertised in the newspaper. The little spitfire of a dog quickly swept me off my feet, and took me on a wild ride for close to thirteen more years before she lost her battle with kidney disease in 2011.
It would be my hunt for my second Smooth Fox Terrier (InStyle's Navigating Excellence "Radar") that would lead me to InStyle Smooth Fox Terriers where I would later return for my third (Ch. InStyle's Pardon My Thunder "Zues") and fourth (BPIS Ch. InStyle's Under a Full Moon "Luna"). Quickly finding I was hooked on the tenacious little breed, I then brought home "Josie" (Ch. Trollhattan's Jospehine Marcus) from Trollhattan in Nova Scotia, registered my original kennel name 'Rosecountry' and Josie became the mother to my first litter in 2015.
I live on an acreage outside of Ardmore, AB with my pack where we regularly enjoy long walks, swimming, fetch and huge play yards. Since closing my boarding kennel business officially in 2020, I have dedicated most of my time to the Venandi program ensuring each of them enjoy the spoils of acreage living.
Smooth Fox Terriers are a higher energy breed with a knack for humor and an astonishing lack of self-preservation. Despite this, they are typically a long-lived breed with few health concerns. They are intelligent and capable of great versatility with the right trainers. A striking dog to look at with a ton of personality; it’s easy to want to take one home, especially when they’re in the form of an adorable puppy. A well trained Smooth Fox Terrier with responsible owners is a lovely creature enjoyed by their owners and the public alike; however in the wrong hands they are a nightmare. If I think this breed is not a good fit for you or your lifestyle, don’t be offended – be glad I could direct you to a breed better suited to your needs!
All of my Smooth Fox Terriers are sold on ownership agreements for the protection of the dog. This is standard practice for reputable breeders and is not open to negotiation.
