With the combined experience of over thirty years, Wanda and I have enjoyed the company of a Smooth Fox Terrier for much of our adult lives, though made the leap into breeding only a few years ago.
Wanda got her first Smooth, Daisey, in 1998. The little spitfire of a dog quickly swept her off her feet, and took her on a wide ride for close to thirteen more years before she lost her battle with kidney disease in 2011.
It would be Wanda's hunt for another Smooth Fox Terrier that would lead her to me, though not immediately. Wanda got her second Smooth Fox Terrier from InStyle Kennels, at the time I was living with there, taking in everything I could about the breed and enjoying every minute of this whole new world that had opened up to me only a mere months before.
In early 2012 Wanda and I would get two brothers from the same litter, and in 2013 I would again bring her a young puppy as Wanda had decided to create a program of her own. We chatted on and off but it wouldn't be until 2015 when we took our first of many road trips together that we evolved from acquaintances to good friends.
By 2018 Wanda and I were close friends, spending may hours visiting, taking seminars, evaluating litters together and helping each other out in the show rings. in June 2018, Wanda suggested we make our partnership official and combine our programs under one name. So Venandi was born, Latin for hunter, it was a perfect fit for the tenacious little breed. Our first litter was born that fall and we've been on a whirlwind ride ever since.
Smooth Fox Terriers are a higher energy breed with a knack for humor and an astonishing lack of self-preservation. Despite this, they are typically a long-lived breed with few health concerns. They are intelligent and capable of great versatility with the right trainers. A striking dog to look at with a ton of personality; it’s easy to want to take one home, especially when they’re in the form of an adorable puppy. A well trained Smooth Fox Terrier with responsible owners is a lovely creature enjoyed by their owners and the public alike; however in the wrong hands they are a nightmare. If we think this breed is not a good fit for you or your lifestyle, don’t be offended – be glad we could direct you to a breed better suited to your needs!
All of our Smooth Fox Terriers are sold on ownership agreements for the protection of the dog. This is standard practice for reputable breeders and is not open to negotiation.
